Went skiing last weekend with the kids.  The sunset while we were there was remarkable…

Happy Friday everyone.  This shot was after an ice storm we had this week.  It wasn’t a huge amount of ice, but you don’t need much for an interesting scene.

This was taken on a recent weekend we spent down in Detroit.  The entire day was overcast until the sky opened up just before sunset.  Fortunately we were down by the river and had this amazing view.

This shot was taken the same evening at Pismo Beach as last week’s photo.  I captured a few photos from this vantage point.  One was at a longer focal length, just focusing on the light at the end of the pier.  It was a less busy image, but I feel like it lost something to this one with the sun actually in the frame.  So I prefer this one…which is captured at a narrow aperture (f16) to get the sun beams to become more pronounced.

Another holiday season in a pandemic is upon us, and I’m sure many plans are likely far from normal.  But whether you are celebrating the holidays in-person with family, virtually, or not at all, I hope you find peace in your heart and mind.  Happy holidays…

While walking through a park in town, I came across this gaggle of Canadian Geese that was in a formation very similar to the opening in the trees.  I snapped this shot before the moment quickly passed.

We got our first decent snow overnight this week, and the next morning was beautiful.  I spent some time capturing photos at the parks in town.

This week I’m doing a throwback to this past summer.  We went on a boat tour of the Tahquamenon River in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.  These deer were cooling off at the shore of the river, and I happened to have a long lens ready.
